Robin van Zutphen

When I moved from nearby Oldenzaal to Enschede, a whole new world opened up for me. I had no idea what a student world existed right under my nose all those years. I quickly let myself be completely absorbed in it and I see that as one of my best choices so far.

I went to live in an active student house, joined Audentis, found a dispute, and decided to do a full-time committee. In a flash, my first year was over and I could barely realize what I had learned and experienced. Because I wasn’t quite done with it yet, I enjoyed a board year at Audentis last year. Looking back on all the beautiful memories, experiences, and my development, I can advise everyone to pick something up next to their studies.

Of course, we all came to the University of Twente to complete a degree, but your student days are also the perfect time to develop yourself in so many other areas. You have been given this wonderful opportunity, a shame to pass it up! Through the University Council, I will ensure that the University of Twente does not lose sight of the importance of this development and hopefully lets students leave with more than just a diploma.

After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in Technical Medicine, Robin van Zutphen (1999) was Praeses (chairman) of the DSCC/DJCR ‘Audentis et Virtutis’ for a year. Before that, he served on several committees within Audentis. He is currently working on his master’s Biomedical Engineering and can also be found behind the bar in ‘t Gat in de Markt as a bartender or on the other side of the bar with his Heerendispuut Yunophiat on Monday evenings.
